What You Will Learn:

Over the course of four engaging sessions, you will immerse yourself in fundamental techniques of art, including:

Session one : The Basics

In this session we will be building skills through observation of objects. We will investigate shape, tone, line and composition. You will create a range of monochrome studies exploring the characteristics of pencil, charcoal, markers, ink, watercolour and acrylic paint. By doing this you will learn to see and think like an artist, breaking down an object into shapes and values.

Session two : Seeing Yourself

We will begin by drawing the person in front of us and assessing our own work breaking it down to build it up. Then we will move on to closeup features, by analysing our own face we quickly realise the difference between preconceived perception and reality.

Session three : Understanding Colour

We will talk about complimentary and contrasting colours, colour families and how to create atmosphere. We will apply this knowledge to a landscape painting inspired by reference or local views.

Session four : Abstraction

In this session we will explore experimentation and abstraction. We will play with colour and mixed media. Art is fun. We will learn different ways to abstract an image and how to utilise imagination and lived experience.

With a maximum of 10 participants, you will benefit from personalized attention and feedback. Enjoy the unique inspiration that comes from connecting with a small group of fellow art enthusiasts!

All materials will be provided however you are welcome to bring your own.
